Tomáš Pospíšek's Notizblock
With quite a powerful laptop:
- i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz
- 4 Cores
- 4GB RAM
out of the box, running iTunes inside a 64bit Windows7 VirtualBox VM on a Debian Linux wheezy host will have the video freezing and skipping, and the sound/image desynchronizing all the time; iTunes performance will be very slow.
In order to reduce skipping I tuned the VM like this:
- increased RAM to 1.5GB
- increased video RAM to 128M
- assigned 2 CPUs to the VM
each of these steps visibly improved the performance of iTunes. What I allready had set before:
- System:
- ICH9 chipset
- netsted paging active
- CPU limiting 100%
- VT-x/AMD-V active
- Display
- 3D acceleration active
- 2D video acceleration active
With these settings there are still occassional very short freezes, however watching videos fullscreen is now possible and very acceptable and in fact enjoyable.
